Indonesia Requires Halal Certification of Medicines to Medical Devices, Effective January 19, 2023
ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian government requires halal certification for drugs, biological products and medical devices (alkes) that enter and circulate in the country.
This regulation comes into effect on January 19, 2023. This obligation is regulated in the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) signed by Jokowi, Number 6/2023 concerning Halal Certification of Medicines, Biological Products and Medical Devices.
“Medicines, biological products, and medical devices that enter, circulate, and are traded in the territory of Indonesia must be halal certified,” Article 2 paragraph (1) reads, quoted Monday (23/1/2023).
